Plan your path, stay on track, and reach your goals.
Academic advising is essential to your journey as a music major at UL Lafayette. Our goal is to help you understand your degree requirements, make smart course selections, and stay on track for graduation—while making room for the opportunities that matter most to you.
Whether you’re just beginning your studies or preparing for your final recital, your faculty advisor is here to guide you through every step of your academic experience.
When to Meet with Your Advisor
All music majors must meet with their assigned advisor each semester before registering for classes. During your advising session, you’ll:
- Review your degree plan and remaining requirements
- Discuss performance and ensemble placement
- Plan your course schedule for the upcoming semester
- Ask questions about scholarships, recital prep, or professional opportunities
- Get your registration hold lifted
Advising typically begins mid-semester. Watch your UL Lafayette email for announcements and instructions on how to schedule your appointment.
Who Is My Advisor?
Your advisor is a member of the music faculty who understands your program and concentration. If you’re unsure who your advisor is, contact the School of Music office for help.
