The Music Media concentration at UL Lafayette uniquely blends performance, composition, production, and music business education under one program. It’s the only music media degree of its kind at a public university in Louisiana—building versatile music professionals for today’s evolving creative industries.

What You'll Study

In this concentration, you'll develop in-depth skills in the following areas:

  • Creative media composition and production: from film scoring to beat-making and commercial music
  • Sound technology and engineering: including synthesis, recording, editing, and digital audio post-production
  • Arranging and orchestration across classical, jazz, and contemporary genres
  • Music business fundamentals: licensing, distribution, performance rights, and entrepreneurial practice
  • Artistic musicianship: refined through private lessons, ensembles, theory, history, and recital seminars

Performance & Ensemble

You’ll continue to advance as a performing musician through applied lessons, recital seminars, and ensemble participation tailored to your instrument, while also gaining production and studio credits in collaborative projects.

Career-Ready Outcomes

Graduates have taken roles as composers, producers, engineers, and media artists in studios, broadcast, film, live events, and music licensing. Some pursue graduate study in music technology, theory, or composition.
