The Music Minor at UL Lafayette is designed for students in other majors who want to continue their musical journey alongside their primary field of study.

Requirements
Acceptance into the Music Minor requires an audition on your primary instrument or voice.
To complete the Music Minor, students take 20 credit hours in music, including:
- Core Courses
- Music Theory (placement based on diagnostic exam)
- Aural Skills
- Music History (selected based on academic plan)
- Applied Study & Ensembles
- Applied lessons on your primary instrument or voice
- Participation in at least one major ensemble (band, choir, orchestra, jazz ensemble, etc.)
- Electives
- Choose from courses such as Jazz Studies, Traditional Music, Recording Arts, or Music Media
