The Pride of Acadiana is more than a marching band—it’s a campus tradition, a performance powerhouse, and one of the most spirited student organizations at UL Lafayette. Open to students of all majors, the band performs at Ragin’ Cajun football games, local and national events, and international festivals, bringing energy and excellence wherever it goes.

The Pride of Acadiana offers the chance to build your performance skills, connect with a supportive musical community, and take the field with energy and pride—no matter your major.

Who Can Join?

  • Open to all UL Lafayette students, regardless of major
  • Requires an audition or placement process depending on section (winds, percussion, color guard, etc.)
  • Includes academic credit and performance-based scholarships for qualifying students

Scholarships & Financial Support

Marching band leader

The Pride of Acadiana Marching Band offers generous scholarships and stipends to support student musicians, regardless of major. These awards recognize your talent, time, and commitment, helping to offset the cost of your college education.

Opportunities include:

  • Performance-Based Scholarships for instrumentalists, percussionists, and color guard members
  • Housing stipends for qualifying students
  • Academic credit available for participation
  • Additional awards for leadership roles (section leaders, drum majors, etc.)

Scholarships are renewable yearly based on continued participation, performance, and good academic standing. Details and award amounts are discussed following placement auditions or upon acceptance into the band.

Ragin’ Cajun Drumline

The heartbeat of the Pride of Acadiana, the Ragin’ Cajun Drumline brings energy, power, and precision to every performance. Open to students of all majors, auditions are typically held in May, with materials released in early spring.

Our Featured Twirler brings elite skill, showmanship, and excitement to the field with high-energy performances that captivate crowds. Open to current and incoming UL Lafayette and SLCC students, twirler auditions include a video pre-screening followed by a live audition.
