Music Assistantships

Fund your graduate studies while gaining valuable experience.

Graduate Assistantships

The School of Music at UL Lafayette offers a limited number of Graduate Assistantships to highly qualified Master of Music students. These assistantships provide a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend of $10,700 while allowing students to build professional experience through teaching, performance, and administrative work.

Assistantships are renewable for up to two academic years, dependent upon GPA, progress towards your degree, and evaluation of assistantship duties. Partial on-campus housing stipends are also available.

Some financial aid is also available from the Friends of Music, which is based on departmental need and students’ performance level.

Master's Fellowships

A limited number of competitive Master’s Fellowships are also available. These provide $11,000 per year with no departmental duties for students with the highest GPA and GRE scores. These fellowships are available for one year only. The graduate student would be given the usual Graduate Assistantship for the subsequent year.

Music Education

For graduate students in music education, the Teacher Tuition Incentive Program is available on a limited basis. This provides a partial waiver of tuition.
