Program Highlights & Completion
- A 30–33 credit-hour program (Master’s degree) with fall and spring course options.
- Required enrollment in at least one Graduate Ensemble (e.g., MUS 544) every semester.
- Choral Conducting students must pass a diction proficiency exam in English, German, French, Italian, and Latin; remedial options available if needed.
- Instrumental Conducting majors present a 50-minute recital demonstrating advanced performance, programmatic knowledge, and stylistic diversity.
Teaching & Leadership Support
- Graduate Assistantships provide tuition remission, stipends, and experience teaching or directing ensembles.

Admission & Requirements
- Submit a formal application to both the Graduate School and the School of Music
- Provide a live or recorded conducting audition, sample portfolio of relevant work, and any required spoken or vocal instruction materials
