Translation & Evaluation of Transcripts
Official English translations must be provided. Translators must be certified by the American Translators Association. For a list of members, visit www.atanet.org. Evaluations of transcripts are also accepted if the evaluating service is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. For a list of members, visit www.naces.org.
First-Time Freshmen
You are a first-time freshman if you have not attended a post-secondary institution. To apply:
- Submit official or certified true copies of all secondary academic records, transcripts, notes, and/or mark sheets from foreign institutions and U.S. schools, if applicable.
- See Secondary Credentials for International Freshmen in order to determine the required credential for admission (listed by country).
Re-entry Student
You are a re-entry student if you have previously attended UL Lafayette. To apply:
- Submit an updated Confidential Financial Guarantee and matching bank statement.
- If you have attended another institution after attending UL Lafayette, please follow the requirements for transfer students.
Transfer Students
You are a transfer student if you have attended a post-secondary institution. To apply to UL Lafayette:
- Submit official or certified true copies of all post-secondary academic records, transcripts, notes and/or mark sheets from foreign institutions and U.S. schools, if applicable. A course program syllabus should accompany the records from foreign institution(s).
- If you are transferring from a U.S. institution, you must submit an International Student Transfer Form in order to get your I-20 transferred to UL Lafayette.
NOTE: The appropriate letter of admission and visa form will be issued only after all credentials have been received, and the applicant has been admitted to the University.
J-1/Visiting Students
You are a J-1/Visiting Student if you plan to return to your home institution. To apply:
- Submit official or certified true copies of all post-secondary academic records, transcripts, notes and/or mark sheets from foreign institutions and U.S. schools, if applicable. A course program syllabus should accompany the records from foreign institution(s).
- Submit English Proficiency scores (TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, or SAT). An official score report should be sent directly from the testing service.
If you are planning to take classes at UL, please apply online. Indicate ‘J-1' on the VISA TYPE field and select ‘Non-Degree Seeking' code ‘7004' (Visiting Student). Also, complete the J-1 Visitor Application Packet and submit the packet, transcripts, and test scores to intladmissions@louisiana.edu or UL Lafayette Office of Admissions, P.O.
