The University of Louisiana at Lafayette mourns the death of Dr. Sarah Brabant, professor emeritus of sociology, whose influence as an educator, scholar and advocate continues to be felt throughout the University and the community.
Dr. Brabant was perhaps best known on campus for her groundbreaking Death and Dying course, through which she helped generations of students better understand grief, loss and the human experience.
Her commitment to others also shaped decades of community service and advocacy, particularly on behalf of women and vulnerable populations.
The University extends its deepest condolences to her family, friends, former students and the many people whose lives she touched and who still feel her enduring influence.
