The Student Nurses Association at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is stellar.
That’s according to the National Student Nurses Association, which recognized the College of Nursing & Health Sciences’ student association as part of the NSNA’s 2022-2023 Stellar School Chapter Recognition Program.
UL Lafayette is among five colleges and universities whose student chapters were singled out for success in fostering the national association’s ideals and objectives during its recent national convention in Nashville, Tenn.
The nonprofit NSNA is in place to mentor students preparing to become registered nurses. Founded in 1952, it promotes standards, ethics and skills essential for students to succeed in their careers.
Amber Eaglin, an instructor in the LHC Group • Myers School of Nursing, is the University’s Student Nurses Association faculty adviser. She said the NSNA’s stellar school chapter program emphasizes leadership and community service.
The University’s Student Nurses Association routinely assists with a range of community initiatives, from disaster relief efforts to fundraising drives, Eaglin added. “Our students do an incredible amount for the community in terms of service and are fantastic leaders in so many ways, and this recognition reflects the amazing work they do.”
Like the NSNA, the Student Nurses Association’s is designed to help prepare students for careers of service as nurses. In addition to helping students grow as leaders and community stewards, the campus association fosters networking opportunities and professional development.
Other schools recognized as part of the NSNA’s 2022-2023 Stellar School Chapter Recognition Program are Florida State College at Jacksonville, Minnesota State University, and the universities of Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
