The New York Voices will join the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Jazz Ensemble to help usher in the Spring 2025 semester.

The Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble and UL Lafayette’s 19-piece big band will perform at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Angelle Hall on campus.

The concert will feature a range of music, including selections by Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Paul Simon, Cole Porter, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, The Beatles and Queen.

Dr. William J. Hochkeppel, director of bands for UL Lafayette’s School of Music and Performing Arts, said that the New York Voices “will amaze every listener with dazzling a cappella arrangements and exciting charts with our Jazz Ensemble.”

Hochkeppel isn’t alone in his praise of the internationally renowned vocal ensemble. A Boston Herald review stated that “to collect such quality voices in one group is rare enough, yet the real trick of New York Voices is how well they mesh.”

The group has performed across the world, including at Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Zurich Opera House and the New Orleans Jazz and Blues Heritage Festival.

General admission tickets for the Jan. 15, performance are $20. Admission for University students, faculty and staff members, and K-12 students will be free.
