Quannas White is the new head coach of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team.
White, who is originally from New Orleans, is the 15th head men's basketball coach in University history.
"I am extremely excited to announce Quannas White as our next head Men’s Basketball coach," Dr. Bryan Maggard, vice president for Intercollegiate Athletics, stated in a press release. “A proven winner, both as a player and coach, Quannas is a man of high integrity, character and faith. He’s an elite recruiter and regarded as one of the best player development coaches in the industry.”
White comes to the Ragin’ Cajuns from the University of Houston. During an eight-season tenure – including the last two as the Cougars’ associate head coach – he established himself as one of the nation’s top recruiters.
White has played an integral role in the overall success of the Houston basketball program. The team is currently ranked No. 3 in the country. It has an overall record of 27-4. Its Big 12 conference record is 19-1.
During his time on staff at UH, White has helped lead teams that have posted a combined 235-43 overall record. Those teams have won eight conference titles and earned seven consecutive trips to NCAA men’s basketball tournament. In 2021, the Cougars made it to the tournament’s Final Four.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be named the next Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Louisiana," White said. "I want to extend my deepest gratitude to University President Dr. Joseph Savoie and Athletic Director Dr. Bryan Maggard for their trust and belief in my vision for this program. This is an opportunity I do not take lightly, and I am fully committed to building a championship culture that reflects the pride, passion, and relentless work ethic of this great university and community."
As a student-athlete at Oklahoma from 2001 to 2003, White helped lead the Sooners to the 2002 NCAA Final Four and was named to the NCAA Tournament All-West Regional Team.
He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Oklahoma in 2004.
