Graduate programs recognized in U.S. News' 2026 ‘best of’ rankings

Enrolling at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a good choice for students interested in earning an advanced degree, according to U.S. News & World Report. 

U.S. News’ 2026 Best Graduate Schools rankings released Tuesday recognized UL Lafayette in a range of areas. The publication’s annual rankings are designed to help prospective college students make decisions about where to enroll and what degrees they want to pursue. 

U.S. News considers factors such as quality of academic programs, research, and quality of faculty members and students, and graduates’ success in their fields and university-reported data and peer assessments. 

“The rankings affirm the quality of our graduate offerings, which are strong across the board. And, beyond the strength of our programs and curriculums, it reflects a standard of excellence that is set and maintained by our faculty members,” said Dr. Mary Farmer-Kaiser, dean of the Graduate School.

“Their dedication to creating learning environments that attract academically gifted students – including working professionals – who are interested in becoming leaders in their respective fields and disciplines,” Farmer-Kaiser added.  

Overall, the College of Engineering was No. 142 and the College of Education & Human Development was No. 174 2026 Best Graduate Schools rankings The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration was also recognized in the overall category, although U.S. News & World Report assigned no numerical ranking. The publication often cites noteworthy academic colleges, departments or programs without assigning a number.

Programs offered by the colleges of Business Administration, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Ray P. Authement College of Sciences were also singled out.

The College of Business Administration’s MBA program was recognized in a range of specific categories. Those are: No. 89 in best international programs; No. 117 in best accounting programs; No. 124 in best marketing programs; and No. 170 in best finance MBA programs.

The MBA program was also No. 166 in the part-time MBA category. The MBA curriculum, however, is the same whether students are enrolled part-time, full-time, on campus or online.

Its programs in industrial engineering and systems engineering were No. 94. Those programs include a master’s degree in systems technology and a Ph.D. in systems engineering.

The Ray P. Authement College of Sciences’ computer engineering program was No. 124 and No. 133 in the best computer schools category. Its mathematics program was ranked No. 153.

The College of Liberal Arts’ speech language pathology program was ranked No. 104 and its English program was No.125.

U.S. News considers factors such as faculty credentials and training, research, student engagement, student service, technology and peer reputation, employment rates of graduates and university-reported data. Its rankings are designed to help prospective college students make decisions about where to enroll and what programs they want to pursue.
