Biography

Dr. Gabriel Carranza serves as Executive Director for Global Engagement, Adjunct Faculty at the Institute for Coastal and Water Research, and Affiliated Research Faculty at the Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Energy Center of University of Louisiana Lafayette. He previously served as Assistant Vice Provost for Global Engagement and as Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas, and as Director for Latin American Programs and the Institute for Pacific Asia at Texas A&M University in College Station. He also serves as visiting professor at the State University of Ponta Grossa in Brazil where he teaches and does research on water-borne illnesses and water quality. His main responsibilities have been to globalize education, research, and community engagement while increasing student enrollment and funding support. In addition, Dr. Carranza’s work has focused on building partnerships with industry, agencies, organizations, and governments in these regions of the world.
