Biography

Dr. Harrington, associate professor,  is the interim Department Head and Associate to the Dean for LHC Group Myers School of Nursing. 
As a nursing educator and an advanced practice registered nurse she has spent nearly three decades assisting and working to enhance the nursing profession both in academia and in the clinical arena. She is nationally certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner board certified (ACNP-BC) and holds two endowed professorships for nursing. In addition to her full time work at the University she continues to practice and maintains certification as an ACNP.-BC. She works with a local cardiology group on weekends and during semester breaks.
Dr. Harrington has published many peer reviewed articles that focus on the care of the cardiovascular patient population. 
In addition to her responsibilities as interim Department Head she also serves on several University committees. She remains active as a regional representative for the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners and has previously served on the ANA Committee on Nursing Practice Standards.
