The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has named more than 250 first-time freshmen as President’s Top Scholars.
Each year, UL Lafayette designates as Top Scholars incoming freshmen who either graduated as valedictorian of their high school senior class or achieved an ACT score of 32 or higher. A total of 258 students earned the distinction this fall.
The recognition comes as the University welcomes the largest freshman class in its history. The Fall 2025 freshman class includes 3,214 students, a 4.8% increase over last year. It boasts a mean cumulative GPA of 3.59, a mean core GPA of 3.73, and an average ACT Superscore composite of 25.15 for those admitted using test scores.
Honorees were celebrated during an Oct. 28 reception at the Alumni Center. Each Top Scholar received a medal and certificate recognizing their exceptional academic achievement.
“You are part of a record-setting class — the third year in a row that we’ve welcomed our largest freshman class in University history,” Dr. Jaimie Hebert, the University’s interim president, told honorees. “That growth reflects the confidence that students and families across Louisiana and beyond have in this institution and in what it means to be a Ragin’ Cajun. You represent the promise of what’s next for this University — and for our state, our communities and our world.”
