The University of Louisiana at Lafayette announced today that it has been designated a 2015 Military Friendly® School.
The military-friendly designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of U.S. institutions that dedicate resources to ensure military students’ success in the classroom and after graduation, according to Victory Media, a service-disabled, veteran-owned business serving the military community since 2001.
“UL Lafayette has a long tradition of working with students who plan to serve or have served in the military,” said Dr. DeWayne Bowie, vice president for Enrollment Management.
“We appreciate being recognized officially as a Military Friendly School.”
The designation process includes extensive research and a data-driven survey of colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding.
The survey considers factors such as on-campus military support; academic credit acceptance from a variety of sources, including military training; tuition assistance; spouse and dependent benefits; and flexible schedule and course completion requirements.
The methodology used for making the Military Friendly® Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to be more transparent, according to Victory Media. The list has helped advance best practices to support military students since it started six years ago.
