A student recruitment ad for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette won a top honor today in an international competition among educational institutions.

The ad, “Find Your Ragin' Spirit,” received a gold award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. It features chalk drawings representing the University and student life, along with encouraging phrases, such as “Dream Big” and “Branch Out.”

CASE is the world's largest nonprofit educational association. It includes nearly 74,000 advancement professionals from 3,600 institutions in 82 countries.

In April, the “Find Your Ragin' Spirit” campaign won a gold award from CASE District IV, which includes institutions from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Besides the ad, the campaign included brochures, postcards and multimedia productions.

The University’s Office of Communications and Marketing worked with the Admissions office on the ad campaign to attract prospective students.

Courtney Fuller, graphic design specialist for the University, created the recruitment ad.

“The design approach represents our brand in a way that resonates with potential students,” said Fuller.

Dr. James Henderson, University provost and vice president for academic affairs said the ad "combines true artistry with the strong messages that we want to send about the transformative nature of what happens on our campus. I’m pleased to see it win this top-level award.”

A stop-motion video compresses Fuller chalking the background for the ad from about 11 hours to a minute and half.
