Edouard Ferrell is taking a hands-on approach to his theatre major. With a concentration in design and technology, Edouard creates costumes, wigs, does makeup, and a variety of other creative tasks.
“In just my year and a half of being in the department, I’ve worked on about 10 productions, whether it’s opera, dance, or the main stage theatre shows as well as capstones,” he said.
“It’s a really varied experience in different roles; it kind of gives me ideas of what I’d be interested in working on in the future.”
Being a theatre major allows Edouard to hone in on his particular skills and passions.
“I love being a theatre major because I’m constantly faced with creative problem solving and hands on learning. Focusing on design and tech allows me to fulfill my passion of combining aesthetic sensibilities with very technical skills.”
Staying close to family and taking advantage of TOPS provided two important reasons for attending UL Lafayette, but another big factor was the smaller size of the University.
“I’ve already had so much experience running shows and making costumes for shows. At bigger universities where there’s a lot more competition for those roles, I find that I get to try more things in a shorter amount of time.”
