Louisiana.edu websites now more mobile-friendly

Viewing official UL Lafayette websites from your phone is easier than ever.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has upgraded its websites to better display information on mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets.

“Louisiana.edu was designed in a responsive theme but we’ve customized the user experience to make it easier to move around the site. We’ve also made sure that the most important information appears at the top of the screen,” said Aimée Bullinger, the University’s associate director of Web Communications.

Bullinger noted that mobile device users don’t need to download an app to see the improvements.

“We’ve just made University websites more mobile-friendly. They are designed to maximize the user experience on smaller screens,” she explained.

Analytics and user testing helped determine how the upgraded websites should function.

More than 30 percent of Louisiana.edu visitors are on mobile devices, and the number of users increases every year, as smart phones and tablets become more prevalent on campus.

“The University’s web team will continue to keep these users in mind as websites evolve,” Bullinger said.
