Learning Center To Offer Tutoring At Library

Starting this fall, The Learning Center at UL Lafayette will offer tutoring from 5:30 till 9:30 p.m. on Monday nights for MATH 91, 92, 100, 105, 140, 143, 250, 270 and 272 at Edith Garland Dupré Library.

Individual tutoring sessions will last 30 minutes. Students can make an appointment by calling 482-6583. Students without appointments will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tutoring will be on the first floor in the library, near the Reference Desk.

The Learning Center’s permanent location is on the second floor of Lee Hall. Services include free one-on-one tutoring, study group tutoring, supplemental instruction, on-line tutoring (Smarthinking.com), computer lab assistance, and other on-line resources, most of which are offered in coordination with various academic and administrative departments on campus.

During normal hours of operation, tutors are available at The Learning Center for almost all 100 and 200 level math and science courses as well as ACCT, BSAT, ECON, EECE, ENGR, ESOL, PSYC, QMET, SOCI, SPAN and STAT.

Students can stop in or call 482-6583 for an appointment. Hours of operation are: Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. –noon. The Learning Center is under the direction of the Academic Success Center, an academic support center designed to assist students in their pursuit of academic success and their transition into the university. The Academic Success Center is under the department of Academic Planning and Faculty Development, which reports to the vice president of Academic Affairs.
