LCG helps students celebrate “Fete de la Terre”

Lafayette Consolidated Government will help UL Lafayette celebrate “Fete de la Terre”—the University’s Earth Week celebration to be held next week.

For Saturday, April 12, through Thursday, April 17, students who show their University IDs will receive free transit service from Lafayette Transit System.

Students are encouraged to explore alternative commuting options to the University, including the hybrid option of biking to bus stops.

Cyclists can transport their bicycles aboard Lafayette Transit buses in quality, heavy-duty racks attached to the front of each bus. Bicycles can easily be loaded and unloaded by following the instructions affixed to the racks, according to LCG officials.

“UL approached us about being a part of its Earth Week celebrations, and we know that it is certainly one of the groups who could be using transit more, given the proximity of the campus to downtown and many of the bus routes," said City-Parish President Joey Durel.

"We were happy to offer this promotion, and we see it as a positive for the students, the University, and the transit system as we educate the next generation of riders.”
