Published

The Krewe of Roux at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is getting into the Mardi Gras spirit with several activities in February including the first parade of the season.

The Krewe, in its 28th year, will host its annual festivities including:

• King and Queen selection ceremony is Feb. 8 at 11:45 a.m. at the Student Union lobby. Royalty is selected in a unique Mardi Gras way – using a King Cake. The female student who choses the piece of cake with the baby is named queen and likewise, the male student who gets the baby is named king.

• King and Queen coronation including the presentation of the court and the King Cake give-a-way is Feb. 15 at 11:45 a.m. at the Student Union lobby.

• Krewe of Roux parade is Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. The parade route will start at the intersection of East Lewis Street on campus and Johnston Street. It will end at the Cajundome. Line up is at 1 p.m. in the parking lot of H.L. Griffin Hall.
