KPA Student Chapter Hosting 'KP-bAy' Online Auction

The UL Lafayette Kinesiology Professional Association (KPA) is taking a new approach in fundraising for their chapter. The student organization in the Department of Kinesiology is hosting an online auction dubbed “KP-bAy.”

“ The KPA has always prided itself on continuing to build an organization that is proud of its roots, here in Lafayette,” said Dr. Brian Campbell, KPA advisor. “The goal of our fundraising efforts is two fold: to successfully send our members to their respected conventions to better advance their professional careers and to serve the community in regard to service.”

The auction is available at http://www.louisiana.edu/kpa. Some of the items up for bid include a limited edition George Rodrigue print, a weekend fishing camp excursion for four, tennis lessons with Chanda Rubin, an opportunity to be a UL Lafayette coach for a week, 2-night cabin stay at any Louisiana State Park, Krewe of Tucks Ultimate Party package and autographed memorabilia from Ragin’ Cajun greats among many other items. Last day for bids is May 2.

Kinesiology has five major concentrations, four of which are in non-teaching areas: Exercise Science, Health & Physical Education, Athletic Training, Health Promotion and Wellness, and Sports Management.

“ These majors have annual conventions that provide networking opportunities for our students with their future peers,” said Campbell. “Promoting student attendance at these conventions will allow our members to explore career options and also showcase the name and reputation of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette regionally and nationally.”
