High school visits planned for Academic Signing program

Representatives of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will visit area high schools over the next several weeks to recognize outstanding students as part of the Academic Signing program.

Students who have been offered an academic scholarship from the university are invited to a signing ceremony that takes place at their high school.

University officials, including President Dr. Joseph Savoie, visit the schools for the Academic Signing. Teachers, parents, family members and media also attend.

Scholarship recipients sign a certificate of intent, have their photograph taken and receive a gift from the university.

Dates and times for high school visits are:

• April 8 - Catholic High of New Iberia, 8 a.m.
• April 9 - Carencro High School at 11:30 a.m.
• April 14 - Notre Dame High School at 9 a.m.
• April 15 - New Iberia Senior High School at 9 a.m.; Episcopal School of Acadiana at 1:40 p.m.
• April 16 - Acadiana High School at 8 a.m.
• April 17 - Vermilion Catholic High School at 8 a.m.
• April 28 - St. Thomas More High School at 6:30 p.m.
• April 29 - Comeaux High School at 6 p.m.
• April 30 - Teurlings Catholic High School at 6 p.m.
• May 1- Abbeville High School at 9 a.m.
• May 5 - Kaplan High School at 10 a.m.; Lafayette High School at 6 p.m.
