The Center for Gifted Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette will once again provide academic and arts courses for children this summer.
The Summer Enrichment Program serves academically talented and creative students who are currently in pre-k through grade 6.
To qualify, a student must present satisfactory scores on a standardized test of mental ability or academic achievement. Students can also be tested through the Center for Gifted Education.
Two sessions of mini-courses will take place from June 10-13 and June 17-20. Students are encouraged to register early, but can enroll up until the first day of each session.
The Summer Scholars Residential and Commuter Program is in place for students currently in grades seven through nine. The registration deadline for that program, which will take place from June 24-28, is May 31.
Summer Scholars choose daily classes offered from a variety of academic and arts areas. They also take a course in leadership.
To qualify, a student must present satisfactory scores on a standardized test of mental ability or academic achievement from their school. Students classified as gifted or talented by state standards automatically qualify for the program.
Limited scholarship tuition funds are available for students whose families qualify on the basis of financial need.
