Animation program: One of best in the South

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette's animation program is among the top 15 in the South. That's according to Animation Career Review, which ranked UL Lafayette No. 11. The Savannah College of Art and Design topped the list.

Graduates of UL Lafayette's program have worked at film and television animation studios such as Pixel Magic, which helped created a 3-D version of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," and Blue Sky Studios, which contributed to the "Ice Age" movies and "Horton Hears a Who."

ACR is an online service that reviews animation and video game design schools, business and technology at hundreds of U.S. colleges and universities. Its Best in the South category includes programs in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky and the territory of Puerto Rico.

ACR's criteria included "academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth and breadth of the program and faculty, value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness, and geographic location."
