Officially licensed Ragin’ Cajuns PPE benefits student scholarship fund

Proceeds from the sale of branded personal protective equipment are benefiting student scholarships at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Officially licensed masks, neck gaiters and other face coverings are available in different materials, styles and sizes. Some are emblazoned with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns moniker, while others carry the University’s trademarked fleur-de-lis.

No matter which you purchase, a portion of the sale proceeds go to the UL Lafayette Keystone Scholarship Fund.

Created in 2019, the fund “helps close the financial gap that often stands between highly motivated, high-achieving students and their dreams of a college degree,” said John Blohm, vice president for Advancement and CEO of the UL Lafayette Foundation.

The Keystone fund is managed by the Foundation on behalf of the University. Its name is derived from keystones that are at the crest of arches that surround the Quadrangle on campus.

“The stones provide stability and complete these iconic structures,” Blohm said. “When supporters purchase branded face coverings, or when they give directly to the Keystone fund, they are providing stability for scholarship recipients who are able to complete their academic journeys because of this generosity.”

Purchasing – and wearing – UL Lafayette’s branded PPE “shows you care,” added Leslie Saloom, associate director of Trademark Licensing in the Office of Communications and Marketing.

“It’s a visible symbol that you are protecting your health and safety and that of your family, friends and wider community. It also displays your willingness to support students as they work to reach their academic and professional goals.” Saloom said.

“And it’s an undeniable statement of Ragin’ Cajuns pride.”
