Requirements for J-1 International Students

To attend UL Lafayette as a J-1/visiting student, you must:

  • Be eligible to return to the institution you attended most recently
  • Be eligible to enroll in or have already completed college-level English and math courses
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.25
  • Be able to demonstrate English language proficiency

When you complete your application, you will also be required to submit these forms.

Confidential Financial Guarantee

Fill out the Confidential Financial Guarantee form [PDF]. Submit it along with a current bank statement.

You don’t have to submit this form if you are a refugee or permanent resident.

J-1 exchange visitor application packet

You will need to complete the J-1 Exchange Visitor Application Packet.

Letter from your home institution

You will need to provide a letter from your home institution recommending that you be an exchange student at UL Lafayette.

Resume

You will need to submit a resume with all relevant work experience and correct mailing address.

Immunization Form

All students must submit an immunization form before you can register for classes. You can submit it at the same time or after your admissions application.

You must be screened for tuberculosis (TB) and be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus-diphtheria.

You are able to submit electronic versions of these forms when you fill out your application line.

Transcripts for J-1 International Students

Transcript Translations

Official English translations must be provided by the American Translators Association. Evaluations of transcripts are also accepted if the evaluating service is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Submit your transcripts from all accredited or ministry-approved colleges or universities you’ve attended.

The transcripts must be original and official translations are required.
