Thomas Sammons

Biography
Professor Tom Sammons possesses 37 years of teaching experience. He is the Director of the Community Design Workshop (CDW), a position he has held for over 25 years. During his tenure, the CDW has completed over 100 projects with the total amount of grants exceeding $4 million.
Professor Sammons was awarded a Fulbright Hays Fellowship for study in China in 2004, named Distinguished Professor for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2005, and is Chairman of the Campus Planning Committee. He also holds the Contractors Educational Trust Fund/BORSF Professor in Art and Architecture Chair.
Student Research/Collaboration
CDW Projects include: collaborating with consultants on the I-49 Connector Project, developing Master Plans for Louisiana National Guard Camps, developing Master Plans for multiple Louisiana small towns, re-designing the University Quadrangle, and designing the University Bike Path
