Biography

Dr. Martha Guidry Bryant is a native of St. Martin Parish. She has served her community and State in the field of education for thirty-eight years. Dr. Bryant has worked in a variety of professional job capacities within the field of education which has provided her a unique and diversified career opportunity; allowing her to focus on a variety of fields within education that include, teaching, educational consulting, state government, business education and educational research and evaluation. Since 2007, Dr. Bryant has worked for the UL Lafayette at Lafayette. She currently serves as the Director for the Office of Professional and Continuing Education. Dr. Bryant hopes to apply and build on her research in Massive Open Online Learning to current initiatives within the OPCE. 

Dr. Bryant has volunteered for several community organizations serving in various leadership capacities including The Lafayette Commission on the Needs of Women; St. Martin Parish Retired Teachers Association; Region V Retired Teachers Association; Secretary, Iberia Community Concert Band; and Advisory Chair, Junior League of Lafayette, A New Vision Leadership. She continues to volunteer her time to support her community and area communities to present. 

Dr. Bryant enjoys performing musically. She is a flutist with 50 years experience in instrumental performance. She has volunteered her musical talent with the St. Anne Catholic Church folk choir in Youngsville, Louisiana and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Parks, Louisiana. She is also a member of the Iberia Community Band and Eunice Community Band. Dr. Bryant is married to Michael Joseph Bryant. They have one adult son, Matthew Francis Bryant.

Opportunities for Student Research/Collaboration:

Dr. Bryant is hopeful to begin networking and collaborating with students who have an interest in theories and research practices within virtual learning, MOOCs and leadership within higher education.
