George Turcu

George is a Romanian fan of mathematics. He did his undergraduate studies in mathematics at the University of Bucharest. He received my PhD from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. His advisor was Kit Chan and my dissertation was called "Hypercyclic Extensions Of Bounded Linear Operators".

George is curious and interested in various methods of teaching that revolve around inquiry based learning. His teaching experience at UL Lafayette includes all Calculus (MATH 250, 270, 301, 302 and their Honors versions) classes, Trigonometry (MATH 110) and Fundamentals of Mathematics (MATH 360). He is also teaching a UNIV100 class that is a "proof course" with no prerequisites. I help organize the Math Club and the Monthly Math Challenge.

George has hobbies that are somewhat math related. He played poker semiprofessionally for a year. During this time, he created and hosted a TV show (12 episodes) about poker, gambling, probability and statistics. He likes writing with fountain pens and has a small collection of pens. He also watches and plays League of Legends.
