Biography

"After more than four decades as a journalist, I'm managing a tiny, committed, and talented team at KRVS Radio Acadie. On 88.7 FM. This 100,000-watt music-driven National Public Radio affiliate serves Southwest Louisiana. Its emphasis on homegrown Zydeco and Cajun music and the rich, grounded, French-inflected culture of my parents' ancestral state attracts an increasingly global streaming audience. KRVS also offers regional public affairs programs, jazz, classical, rock, roots, and folk.

Before moving to Lafayette in mid-2022, I worked in various capacities for the Chicago Tribune, National Public Radio, and the Opelousas Daily World, large public stations and nationally-distributed shows, nonfiction audio projects, and training platforms. Journalists I've mentored have become Pulitzer Prize finalists, recipients of prestigious fellowships, and winners of the George Polk Award, among other honors.

When I can, I enjoy showing up for a live band to Zydeco, two-step, line dance, and waltz. "
