Writing in the Galleries a Good Thing

Published

Teachers, would you like a free and educational field trip for your students? UL Lafayette AmeriCorps and the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum have created Writing in the Galleries (WIG), a unique program to strengthen literacy skills through art.

The program engages the imagination of students in grades 1 - 12 and provides grade specific activities in a museum environment.

Thanks to a Learn and Serve Grant from the UL System, free admission and transportation are available for all Vermilion Parish Elementary and Middle Schools as well as Alice Boucher, Ossun, Westside and Live Oak elementary schools in Lafayette Parish.

Students and teachers from all other Acadiana area schools can participate at a reduced cost. Call (337) 482-6060 or email wig@louisiana.edu for more information or to schedule a field trip.
