Types of Housing Applications

A first-year student is defined as a student who has graduated from high school but has not attempted any college coursework. Dual enrollment courses do not qualify as college coursework.

Key features:

  • The academic year contract for first-year students usually opens in December for students starting at the University the following fall semester.
  • Requires a signed housing contract and paid application fee/prepayment to secure a space.
  • Students may form roommate groups and select room preferences in one of our residence halls.
  • Assignments are typically made mid-summer before the student’s first semester.
  • Subject to the University’s live-on requirement for first-time freshmen.

Current residents are defined as a student who currently resides on campus, in one of our residence halls or apartment complexes. These students will have the first chance to select an apartment space before it is opened to other continuing students.

Key features:

  • The academic year contract for current residents usually opens in the spring semester.
  • Includes room renewal and room selection, allowing students to choose their same room or a new apartment space before new applicants are assigned.
  • Space is first-come, first-served, and availability may vary by building.
  • This is for students who have already completed at least one semester at the University.

Continuing students are defined as students who have been enrolled in college coursework for at least a year, but do not currently live on campus. These students will be able to complete a housing application after our current residents have had a chance to select an apartment room and fill out room preferences. Our office will be assigned based on availability.

These contracts open at the same time for all classifications.

Family Housing Applications

You can submit your Family Housing application through the Housing Portal in ULink to join the Family Housing standby list. Family Housing assignments are made based on the original application date. Our office will contact you if an apartment becomes available. Once you accept an offer, your Family Housing contract will be activated in the Housing Portal for you to sign before moving in. Please note that Family Housing is currently full and operating on a standby list. While we will do our best to accommodate requests, availability cannot be guaranteed.

Housing Forms

Many housing forms are now available on the Housing Portal in ULink. Log in to the Housing Portal and then select Housing Forms from the top menu.

  • Emotional Support Animal Request Form - Use the form to request an ESA.
  • Apartment Storage Request - Use this form to request to keep your belongings in your apartment during the summer. To qualify, you must have the same room assignment for the spring semester before and the fall semester after the summer.
  • Sign FERPA Waiver - Use the form to allow a parent or guardian to view your housing information.
