Updates to the Web Ambassadors Network

Learn about the (current and upcoming) changes to the Web Ambassadors Network.

As you may know by now, we’ve been working to revamp the Web Ambassadors Network alongside the launch of our subsite redesign. The Core Team decided this was a perfect time to make the network function more sustainably as well as provide more structure for our ambassadors.

We don’t want to unnecessarily up-end everyone, so we are only implementing this new structure for those ambassadors coming into the new website design. If you’re not working through that process yet, you don’t have to worry about everything changing… yet.

However, once you are pulled into that process – or if you are already there – here’s a few things to know:

  1. We’ve split up the general role of Web Ambassador into two: the Content Publisher and the Content Editor. We did this to clearly indicate the lead ambassadors on your Web Ambassador Team. Your lead ambassador(s) will ultimately be responsible for what goes live on your site. The content editors on the other hand, are the support. While the content publishers are responsible for publishing your content to the live site, content editors may do the bulk share of content creation.
  2. We’ve added another more defined role for your Web Ambassador Team! Calendar Editors (which was always an unofficial option), who will also be support for your Web Ambassador Team but may not have full access to edit on your site.
A few notes on this structure:
  3. We’ve created a new form for all Web Ambassador requests including adding or removing ambassadors, getting assistance with your site, requesting a URL Redirect, and anything else you might need from us! You can find the form here.
  4. We’re collecting information for your Social Media Managers. We don’t currently have much in terms of official procedures or training for these managers, however we want to add them to our directory of Web Ambassadors for a few reasons.
    • We want to offer our support and resources to those running University-affiliated social media accounts. We want to make sure to provide as much as we can to your entire team that contributes to the University’s digital presence.
    • Adding these managers to our directory allows us to effectively direct others to the right people when they make web-related requests.

Hopefully, that gives you the context you need to feel confident in this new structure. Go team!
