Undergraduate admissions

To qualify for an online undergraduate degree program, you must be eligible to enroll in Math 105 (21+ ACT score or 3.25+ high school GPA) and ENGL 101 (18+ ACT score or 3.0+ high school GPA). Those who do not meet this requirement may need to complete some coursework on campus.

Additionally, you'll need to meet the standard requirements set by the University for First-Time Freshmen, Re-Entry, or Transfer applicants based on your previous college attendance. 

If you're applying for the Bachelor of General Studies, B.S.B.A. in Management, B.S.B.A. in Marketing, or RN to BSN program, review additional requirements set by those programs at the bottom of this page.

All applicants will need to request transcripts be sent directly from all previous colleges and universities you’ve attended to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

First-Time Freshman 

If you’ve never attended college, or you’ve earned fewer than 24 credit hours (about eight courses), you’re considered a first-time freshman. Please note that if you’ve attended another college or university, you must be in good standing with that institution to be admitted to UL Lafayette.  

You must also meet the following requirements: 

  • 18 ACT English, 500 SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing, or 250 Accuplacer Writing — or a 3.0 overall high school GPA (unweighted)
  • 19 ACT Math, 510 SAT Math, or 250 Accuplacer QAS Math — or a 3.0 overall high school GPA (unweighted)
  • 2.0 cumulative GPA (unweighted) 

If you graduated from a Louisiana high school and are applying as a freshman, you must also: 

If you graduated from a high school outside Louisiana or were homeschooled, you must meet the standard freshman requirements plus one of the following: 

Alternative High School Credential

If you did not graduate from high school but have taken the HiSET exam, you’ll need:

  • A HiSET score of 15 on any subtest and a score of 4 on HiSET essay and
  • 18 ACT English or 500 SAT Evidence-Based Reading & Writing
  • 19 ACT Math or 510 SAT Math

Re-entry

If you’ve attended UL Lafayette in the past, welcome back! You’ll apply as a re-entry student.  

You must have a 1.5 cumulative GPA and be eligible to return to all other colleges or universities you may have attended to be considered for readmission to UL Lafayette.

Your cumulative GPA includes coursework completed at all colleges or universities you have attended, including UL Lafayette.

Transfer

If you have earned more than 24 college credits and have never attended UL Lafayette, you’ll apply as a transfer student. You must be eligible to return to all colleges or universities you previously attended to be admitted to UL Lafayette.  

You can transfer with guaranteed admission if you have earned an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.

Otherwise, you must have:

  • A 2.25 GPA or higher (excluding developmental or remedial courses)
  • Completed college-level freshman English with a C or better
  • Completed college mathematics with a C or better

Your dean’s office will officially determine which transfer credits will apply to your degree program before you register for your first term.

Supplemental requirements

The following online bachelor’s degree programs have additional requirements set by the academic departments offering those degrees. Programs not listed below the standard requirements outlined previously on this page.

The Bachelor of General Studies is available only to transfer or re-entry students. First-time freshmen are not eligible to apply.

To qualify for the B.S.B.A. in Management program, you must meet one of the following: 

  • Hold an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
  • Have completed 30+ credit hours, with both:
    • A cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher (excluding developmental/remedial courses)
    • 6 hours of non-remedial freshman English and 3 hours of non-remedial college algebra, all with a grade of C or better 

Please note: The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration only accepts transfer credits for business courses earned from AACSB-accredited schools

To be admitted to the B.S.B.A. in Marketing online degree program, you must have either: 

  • earned an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution 

OR

  • have earned 30 hours or more with both:
    • a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher (excluding developmental/remedial courses)
    • completion of 6 hours of non-remedial college-level freshman English, and 3 hours of nonremedial college algebra with a C or better 

Please note: The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration only accepts transfer credits for business courses earned from AACSB-accredited schools.

In addition to the standard requirements outlined above, you must: 

  • Possess and submit an active, unencumbered RN license
  • Provide proof of one of the following items:
    • An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from a regionally accredited U.S. institution that is also accredited by ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or NLN CNEA, with a GPA of 2.4 or higher in all coursework related to the ADN and any non-nursing courses that transfer into the program
    • Completion of a diploma program in nursing accredited by ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or NLN CNEA, with a GPA of 2.4 or higher in all coursework and any non-nursing courses that transfer into the program

Note: Individuals with an ADN or diploma from institutions that are not ACEN or NLN CNEA accredited are not eligible for enrollment in the program.   

Individuals with a baccalaureate degree in any field will be accepted once they complete 12 hours in:

  • medical terminology
  • human anatomy and physiology I
  • human anatomy II or medical science, and  
  • healthcare technology.
