LHC Group • Myers School of Nursing

In 2021, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences received a transformational investment from LHC Group that recognized the vital role the University and the college play in strengthening and expanding the region's health care landscape. The investment will help empower the future of health care and meet the growing demand for nurses and other health care professionals in Acadiana, throughout Louisiana, and across LHC Group's national footprint.

The University and the college are deeply grateful to LHC Group and the Myers family for this historic support, and are proud to honor their generosity through the naming of the LHC Group • Myers School of Nursing.

Accelerated BSN with Ochsner Lafayette General

In 2024, the LHC Group • Myers School of Nursing and Ochsner Lafayette General launched the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for students who have earned a bachelor's degree in another field. Students complete the program's nursing courses in 15 months of full-time study after finishing their general education prerequisites, with clinical rotations at Ochsner Lafayette General.

Ochsner Lafayette General covers tuition for the program's nursing courses, and graduates commit to work for Ochsner Lafayette General for three years. Together, we're working to meet the nursing workforce needs of Acadiana.

Health Sciences Campus

In August 2023, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences began its transition to the Health Sciences Campus. The fully renovated fourth floor of the 501 Building, made possible by a philanthropic investment from LHC Group, is where all junior- and senior-level nursing courses are taught. The next phase is a Regional Simulation Center that will offer simulation experiences for undergraduate and graduate nursing and health sciences students and be available to area health care institutions.

Nursing Simulation Program

The LHC Group • Myers School of Nursing incorporates simulation-based learning into its undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula, using equipment that ranges from basic task trainers to advanced patient simulators and virtual reality learning systems. In June 2025, the Nursing Simulation Program relocated to James D. Moncus Hall, where junior and senior nursing students now complete all of their on-campus experiences.
