Simulation & Learning Labs

Practice clinical skills in UL Lafayette's nursing simulation labs, with patient simulators from basic task trainers to high-fidelity simulators and virtual reality.

As a student in the LHC Group · Myers School of Nursing, you'll gain an immersive health care experience in our simulation labs. Practice your clinical skills on simulated patients — starting IVs, giving medications, managing a mother delivering a baby, caring for a child having an asthma attack, or performing CPR on a patient in cardiac arrest. Along the way, you'll build confidence in communication, critical thinking, and leadership.

In June 2025, the Nursing Simulation Program relocated to James D. Moncus Hall.

Our Labs

The Nursing Simulation Program has eight simulation labs, including:

  • Two low-fidelity labs
  • Three high-fidelity labs, including a Critical Care Lab
  • A Maternal Child Lab
  • A Health Promotion Lab

The labs are equipped with simulators ranging from low-fidelity task trainers to high-fidelity patient care simulators and virtual reality learning systems.

Expert Guidance

Simulation-based learning is facilitated by the Simulation Program Coordinator and simulation faculty and staff, and governed by the Committee on Simulation, all with advanced knowledge and skills in simulation pedagogy. This hands-on experience, guided by expert faculty and simulation technologists, gives you real-life training to build confidence and excellence in your clinical skills.

Accreditation

The Nursing Simulation Program is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare's Council for Accreditation of Healthcare Simulation Programs, with a focus on teaching and education.
