The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association will honor John Bordelon at its 2025 Spring Gala. Bordelon is a 1977 graduate of the University and president and CEO of Home Bank.
Spring Gala will be held from 7-11 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at the UL Lafayette Alumni Center, 600 E. St. Mary Blvd. Proceeds of the yearly gala benefit UL Lafayette Alumni Association initiatives.
Spring Gala will feature fine food, cocktails, live music, and live and silent auctions. Art, gifts, travel opportunities and Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns merchandise are among items that will be up for bid.
“Our Spring Gala honors alums who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their community, their professions and in their support of their alma mater,” said Amy Armstrong, associate vice president for Alumni Engagement and CEO of the Alumni Association.
“John’s longstanding contributions in each of those areas are extensive, and our community and our University are better and stronger because of his dedication, vision and willingness to serve and help others,” Armstrong added.
Bordelon has spent more than four decades at Home Bank. He served in a variety of management positions before becoming president and CEO in 1993. Under Bordelon’s leadership, Home Bank has grown to 43 locations in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi.
Bordelon, who was raised in New Orleans, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University in 1977. He played outside linebacker as a four-year member of the Ragin’ Cajuns football team.
His service to the community – and his alma mater – is far-reaching. He was chairman of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce board. Bordelon also served as president of the UL Lafayette Alumni Association and as the first chairman of the Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Foundation. He is also a co-founder of the RCAF, which was established in 2009.
Bordelon has been a board member for the Community Foundation of Acadiana, Southwest Medical Center, United Way of Acadiana, Louisiana Open, Ascension Day School, and Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
The University honored Bordelon with an Outstanding Alumni Award in 2021. He has been married to Suzanne Bordelon for 48 years. The couple has three daughters and six grandchildren.
