England

The 2027 England program will take place from May 17 - May 21, 2027 in Lafayette and from May 24 - June 7, 2027 in London.

About the Program

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Study Abroad in England is a three-week program consisting of one week in Lafayette and two weeks in London. The program offers students the opportunity to study in one of the world’s most exciting and cosmopolitan cities while earning six credit hours.

Every course involves travel to a number of sites that may include areas throughout London such as Regents Park, the British Museum, the Houses of Parliament, Covent Gardens, The Royal Botanical Kew Gardens & Palace, and Westminster Abbey. In addition, time is spent exploring unique areas outside of the city such as the historic cities of Bath and Oxford. You’ll experience wonderful cultural activities such as West End plays, many of which surpass their Broadway counterparts, as well as other guided and unguided excursions during your stay.

Nursing with Evie Robison

Analysis of the impact of cultural, social, and global factors on populations and healthcare outcomes.
This course provides students with opportunities to engage with citizens and healthcare professionals in other regions of the world to examine healthcare issues unique to the location of study and to compare similarities and differences between the host country’s healthcare system and the United States healthcare system.

This course offers an in-depth exploration of the genetic factors and healthcare perspectives that shape the human condition in London. Through both scientific and cultural lenses, students will examine how genetics, medical practices, and societal values influence health and wellbeing.

By comparing these experiences with perspectives from the U.S., students will gain a broader understanding of global healthcare systems and the cultural contexts that influence them. This course is not only an academic journey but also a cultural immersion—inviting students to see health as part of the larger human story.

You will process the historic sights, vibrant sounds, and rich textures of London through a
playful, adventurous lens. Strip away the rigid rules, embrace the art of playful experimentation,
and make your sketchbook absolutely *Pop!*

Hello Hockney! Grab this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dive headfirst into the Pop Art phenomenon at David Hockney's massive summer 2027 retrospective at the Tate Modern! Whether you already love Modern Art or look at abstract works and think "my kid could paint that," this course will change how you see the world. Forget textbook pages and digital screens. You will stand inches away from iconic masterpieces to experience the artist hand at work.

Together, we will unlock the secrets behind the major 20th-century movements that shook the art world. You will trace the explosive shift from Cubism to European Art Informel and American Abstract Expressionism. We will investigate how mass media, celebrity, and consumer culture ignited the Pop Art explosion. Beyond the gallery walls, you will put theory into practice in your VIAR 309 studio sketchbook, challenging yourself to fuse these radical modernist aesthetics using mixed media, photography, monoprinting, and collage.

Psychology with Andrea Eggenberger

Here's your chance to think about substance use, abuse, and treatment through the lens of British culture. Psychological, social, cultural, and historical factors will be considered. Get exposed to the British perspective through music, such as The Beatles, plays, such as Shakespeare, and historical references, such as The Foundling Museum.  Personal experiences  related to the royal family will be read and discussed. Understanding substance use and abuse thorugh a cross-cultural lens can help us put into perspective our own experiences.

Much of our insight and self-discovery is based upon our environment and the time period in which we grow up and exprience the world around us.  Even when cultures seem very similar, one's perception of the world can be vastly different from another's worldview.  In this course, we will look at both the adjusment and maladjustment of people as told through classic stories and plays, such as those by Shakespeare and Sir Author Conan Doyle, while visiting historical sites, such as the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace.
