About Costa Rica

In Spanish, Costa Rica means “rich coast,” but visitors to this Central American country experience much more than just stunning shorelines. With more than 25% of the country protected by the national park system, Costa Rica’s lush tropical forests are home to 5% of the world’s biodiversity—more than 400 types of birds can be found in the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest alone. Costa Ricans have a strong commitment to protecting local ecosystems and to creating a green society. The capital, San José, is also home to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the United Nations University of Peace. As a hub for environmental research, sustainable innovation, and advancement in human rights, Costa Rica is the ideal destination for exploring social and environmental business practices.
