About Barcelona

Immerse yourself in the vibrant city of Barcelona, a hub of innovation and sustainability at the forefront of Europe’s environmental and technological advancements. 

Barcelona itself will be your classroom, where you’ll witness a blend of historical achievements and cutting-edge innovations. From marveling at the structural ingenuity of the Sagrada Família to visiting modern renewable energy sites, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between engineering, sustainability, and culture.

Program Requirements

The program cost is $4,699, plus University fees of $140, totaling $4,839. A late fee of $100 will be added to your program cost after December 16th. Program cost includes tuition for 3 credit hours, lodging, insurance, museums, entrance fees, field trips, and public transportation passes. 

Airfare is not included in the program cost and must be purchased by the student. Other personal expenses include passport and visa costs, eating out, shopping and entertainment.

Engineering Courses with Jonathan Raush

Gain a global perspective on energy and sustainability by immersing yourself in the heart of Barcelona, Spain, a city at the forefront of Europe’s efforts in renewable energy and environmental policy. This course offers a unique opportunity to explore how countries and regions are addressing one of the most pressing issues of our generation—energy production and its impact on sustainability.

Set against the backdrop of Spain's and the EU's initiatives, you'll delve into key topics such as the Paris Climate Accord and COP 26, learning about the policies shaping the future of energy. You’ll explore Spain's leadership in green product production and sustainable practices. The course will teach you to analyze macro energy systems using engineering principles within the framework of policy structures, with real-world examples drawn from Spanish and broader European contexts.

Students must have achieved a grade of C in ENGR 301.
