Change Your Major

Are you thinking about changing your major?  Have you already met with Major and Career Exploration and know which major is a better fit for you? Great! Come let the Academic Success Center help you with your next steps.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 80 percent of students in the United States change their majors at least once.

The professional advisors in the Academic Success Center can help you navigate the process of changing your major.

Feel free to schedule an in-person or virtual appointment with your ASC advisor or stop by our office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. (Monday through Thursday) and 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. (Friday). Our office is in Lee Hall, room 115.
 

Where to Change your Major

Please email your name, ULID, and change of major request to lana@louisiana.edu.

You must obtain written permission from a counselor in the Student Athlete Academic Center before you change your major.

To request a change on major into the online Management degree program, contact studentservices@louisiana.edu.

You must pass an audition through the School of Music in Angelle Hall before your change of major can be initiated.

Nursing, Health Information Management, and Health Services Administration majors must be approved by the Department of Nursing Students Services in Wharton Hall.

Pre-Dental Hygiene majors must have approval and change their major with their advisor in Lee Hall, room 115.

If you are transferring into University College, you must have your transcript evaluated in General Studies before your Change of Major can be initiated. Unofficial transcripts (printed from ULink) can be used for the evaluation. 

You will initiate a change of major in the Academic Success Center in 115 Lee Hall.

You will initiate a change of major in the Dean's office of the college of your new major.
