For each citation issued, a hold is placed on the individual’s university account. A hold on a an account will block registration, drop & add classes, see final grades, prevent purchase of a parking permit and possibly graduation or receipt of a transcript.

To remove a hold due to a citation, the fine amount must be paid. A citation may still be appealed after a citation is paid provided the appeal is filed through the student parking portal no less than 4 days or 96 hours of the citation issuance.

The adding and lifting of holds is an automated process. Holds are added or removed in Banner four times daily—at 6 a.m., 12 p.m., 6 p.m., and 12 a.m. 7 days a week.

Payments made at least 30 minutes before these times will have their holds lifted at the next scheduled interval.
Payments made less than 30 minutes prior will be processed at the following interval.

Example:

  • A citation paid at 5:15 a.m. will be lifted at 6 a.m.
  • A citation paid at 5:35 a.m. will be lifted at 12 p.m.
