Tech Support

To successfully participate in a hybrid or online course or degree program, you will need access to certain technology, including reliable Internet access and a properly configured computer.

This section contains information about the technical requirements for online learning as well as links to support resources at UL Lafayette.

Technical Requirements for Online Courses

You will need Microsoft Office applications to complete assignments. Follow the directions at this site to add it to your computer.

We do not recommend mobile devices like iPads and Chromebooks for coursework since many of the applications used in your online courses require more processing power than those devices currently offer. Also, these would not be acceptable for a proctored exam.

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are recommended and provide the best, most consistent experience in using the University's online learning management system, Moodle.

Your internet download & upload speed should be 2 Mbps or higher.  You can test your speed using this free site.

Recommendations for PC users is Windows Vista or better, Mac users MacOSx 10.5 or better. To check PC users should type "about your PC" in their computer's search bar, and Mac users should click on the apple icon and choose "About this Mac." RAM should be 1GB or higher and can be found at the same location.

PC users with the Windows10S operating system may need to switch out of "S-mode" to use online proctoring services. Note: This is a permanent switch; you cannot re-enable S-mode.

Proctored tests and coursework will require that your webcam, microphone, and speakers are in working order. Test them here.

Adobe Reader will help you open PDF files in your course.  Fill in the three drop downs on the left-hand side of this page and then download.

Download the UL Lafayette mobile app to stay up to date on pertinent University information and your coursework while on the go.
