Core Courses

Introduction to the breadth of the sport industry, with particular focus on career opportunities. Specific topics covered may include management, finance, marketing, law, public relations, sales, and facility operations in sport. 

Application of current technology in the areas of health and kinesiology; fundamentals of computers and their use; application of software and productivity tools to health and kinesiology settings; use of computer networks for communication and research.  

Theoretical and practical applications of planning, managing, and evaluating events. Topics covered through experiential learning including planning, fundraising, sponsorship, programming, marketing, communications, vendor management, volunteer management, risk management, market research, and evaluation. 

Emphasis on the identification of target markets and the development and implementation of marketing strategies related to products, channels of distribution, promotion, and pricing.

Descriptive and inferential statistics, correlation, t-tests, and linear regression pertaining to kinesiology data.

Study of management fundamentals and concepts by lecture and case method with emphasis on organizational behavior. Includes processes, structure, development of, and behavior in organizations. 

Legal duties and responsibilities affecting managers in physical activity settings, including compliance with Title IX, Americans with Disabilities, employment law, and anti-trust law. 

Emphasis on policies and procedures essential to program development. Analyzes problems dealing with leadership, curriculum development, facilities and state and community relations. 

Sales strategies and techniques in industrial and consumer sales. Preparation and delivery of sales presentation. 

Planning, implementation and control of sales management activities including formulation of objectives and management of sales personnel. 

Research and career exploration in the field of Sport Management. 

Understanding of sport applications to fields such as communications, economics, finance, management, and marketing.

Financial environment of sports, both amateur and professional.

Includes class meetings and placement in an approved professional setting.

Program Requirements

Whether you’re a first-time student or transferring from another institution, you can apply to enroll in the online B.S. in Kinesiology, Sport Management degree program.

You must submit official transcripts from all past institutions to complete your application.  

Transfer students

If you have earned at least 24 hours of college credits, you’re a transfer student. You will need to provide transcripts from all previous institutions along with your application.

You must be eligible to return to the most recent institution attended, and have either:

  • earned an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution,  

OR have earned 24 hours or more with:

  • A cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher (excluding developmental/remedial courses), AND
  • Successful completion of non-remedial college-level freshman English and non-remedial college algebra.

Re-entry

If you have previously attended UL Lafayette, you’re a re-entry student. You must:  

  • Submit transcripts of all academic work since your last date of enrollment at UL Lafayette.
  • Have at least a 1.5 cumulative GPA.

First-time Freshman

If you have never attended a college or university, you’re a first-time freshman. You will need to provide:

  • High school transcripts.
  • ACT or SAT scores. 

Online students pay a flat-rate tuition of $380-per-credit. Your total tuition will depend on how many eligible transfer credits you have.

Because courses in this program will only be available online, the program may not be available to all applicants. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and its online programs must be in compliance in every state where a student is located. International students also may not be eligible. According to U.S. immigration regulations, F-1 students cannot pursue online degrees; international students in other visa categories (i.e., H-4, L2) are exempt from this restriction.
