“The general studies degree is so versatile. If you’re entering this program, just go for it, because it doesn’t mean that you’re undecisive. It just means you’re exploring and learning new things along the way.”
“God put it on my heart that it was time to go back. I didn’t know where I was going or how I was going to do it, but I knew that I really loved UL Lafayette and that if I can go through all that school and make good grades, I deserve to finish off with something.”
“If it’s something you want to do, there shouldn’t be any excuses. You’ll always be able to say you don’t have time, but you do. You just have to make it.”
“The people—the very talented people—who work for UL Lafayette were looking out for my better interest to make sure that I got the degree that I came back for. I made As in every one of my classes when I returned because of the support I had.”
“I am very grateful for my advisor, Sharon Williams-Gregory. When I saw her at graduation, I had to stop myself from crying because if it weren’t for her, I probably would have quit.”
Karen LeDoux’s academic goals sat on the back burner for decades until she found she could use her existing college credits to complete her bachelor’s degree online. Once she walked through that door, she found new opportunities on the other side.
“I enjoyed it because I could take classes I was interested in. I didn't have a certain curriculum I had to follow to the T. Health always interested in me, so I took a lot of health and psychology classes.”
“It just opened like 25 cans of worms because you're learning marketing, you're learning about law, you're learning about criminal justice, you're learning about mental health, you learn about diversity. So, all things are beginning to make sense and you realize how much everything is connected. It's really cool because you get to dive in and then kind of figure out what works best for you.”
