Improving patient care drove Elliot Myers to pursue nursing and to complete not one but three degrees from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to, “practice at the highest degree I can and give my patients confidence that I’ve attained a level of education adequate for care.”

Elliots Myers, online DNP graduate. As of May 15, 2020, Elliot Myers will become Dr. Elliot Myers as he earns his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from UL Lafayette’s online program.

“It’s grown me more than I thought. I knew I was getting the degree, but I didn’t know what else,” he says. “It helped me grow as a researcher and clinician, and I’ve grown from a personal standpoint.

“It’s made me a better practitioner, and I’m very thankful for that.”

Myers’ culminating synthesis project channeled his passion for patient care, especially in rural areas. He says he was inspired after speaking with several nurse practitioners interested in leading and opening rural primary care clinics but unsure where to start.
