Informatics (M.S.)

Louisiana’s premier Master of Science in Informatics degree program is available both on-campus and online to suit your professional goals and lifestyle.

Offered by the School of Computing and Informatics, this interdisciplinary degree program bridges applied computing technology and organizations (for-profit, non-profit, governmental) by preparing you to design and implement enterprise computing — including analytics, reporting, data science and machine learning, database management, networking, cybersecurity, and other software technology solutions systems — in a wide range of industries.

The program provides the opportunity to match your interests in business, interactive media technology, system administration, web development, and network security with graduate courses outside of the discipline.

That flexibility makes our graduates much more adaptable in their current careers, or transition to a new one. Informatics is used in every industry, including healthcare, large-scale retail, space exploration, entertainment, and other non-profit, for-profit, and governmental organizations.

The master’s in informatics curriculum is the same online and on-campus, with courses in information sciences, human-computer interaction, information system analysis and design, telecommunications structure, and information architecture and management.

Our online master’s in informatics program includes the added flexibility of both 8-week and 16-week course options.

The 33-hour core curriculum includes thesis and non-thesis tracks.
