Computer Science (M.S.)

Our master’s in computer science by the Center for Advanced Computer Studies (CACS) in the School of Computing and Informatics. CACS brings together the Computer Engineering M.S.E. and the Computer Science M.S. programs under one research-focused umbrella. This unique structure provides the opportunity to learn about both areas while focusing on research and coursework in one of the two disciplines.

UL Lafayette was the first University to combine the two related, but distinct, disciplines.

CACS makes its research laboratories and equipment available to students and maintains close working relationships with several research centers like the Informatics Research Institute (IRI), Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE), and the UL NASA Regional Application Center (RAC).

We have top-notch faculty and conduct cutting-edge research in:

  • artificial intelligence,

  • cloud computing,

  • computer and network security,

  • data analytics and visualization,

  • embedded systems,

  • graphics and human-computer interaction,

  • knowledge and information systems,

  • operating systems,

  • programming languages and analysis, and

  • wireless communications.
